A Georgia mom clutching her 3-month-old baby as she brawled with another woman dropped and fatally injured the tot during the wild parking lot melee, authorities said.
Store surveillance cameras show Karen Lashun Harrison, 26, swinging at the other woman Friday in a Moultrie parking lot as she cradled her infant son in another arm, news station WALB-TV reported.
In the footage, the other woman swung a shopping bag at Harrison, who apparently dropped her son while attempting to pummel her. As they continued to fight, others ran to the aid of the baby boy who was left on the pavement.
The baby was brought to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, authorities said.
Harrison later told police that the baby was injured when a family friend dropped him.
The mom was charged with felony murder, cruelty to children and simple battery.
The other woman hasn’t been charged in the brawl, but more arrests are possible, officials said.
“This is very disturbing, that two adults would fight in public place,” Moultrie Police Department Lt. Williams told news station WTXL. “Especially while holding a three-month-old child in her arms.”
